Atlas and Delta expendable launch vehicles have carried more than 850 combined payloads to space ranging from weather, telecommunications and national security satellites that protect and improve life on Earth, to deep space and interplanetary exploration missions that further our knowledge of the universe Job Title: SPECIALTY ENGINEER 4 Requisition Number: 34668 Location: Decatur, AL 35673 Specialty Engineering, Welding engineer to provide support to the consolidation of the Atlas Product Line from Denver Colorado to Decatur Alabama. Candidate will have a broad knowledge of multiple welding processes and problem solving skills within a Aerospace Production environment. Experience with development and qualification of Aerospace Weld schedules are required for Variable Polarity Plasma Arc Welding, and/or Variable Polarity Gas Tungsten Arc Welding. Work will require frequent interaction with other inter-organizational groups such as Facilities, Tooling, Production, Production Engineering and others such as equipment contractors. Verbal and written presentation skills are required to participate and support in Weld system reviews, Production Process Capability reviews and Production Readiness Reviews. Educational Requirements: BS/BA in a related discipline and generally more than 10 + years of welding engineering experience. Preferred Skills: Development and Qualification of Friction Stir Weld schedules. Experience with Welding Tooling, master equipment lists and shop floor process validation. Experience with Weld operator training and certification. This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) information.
